Watching Fireworks

Whether you’re looking for a small-town parade, live music, family-friendly activities, or one of the biggest fireworks shows in North Texas, Rockwall County offers plenty of ways to celebrate Independence Day. From longtime hometown traditions to exciting new attractions, there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of the Fourth of July.

Heath Independence Day Parade | 9 am

If you’re looking for a classic hometown parade, Heath’s Independence Day celebration is hard to beat. Expect creative floats, decorated golf carts, bicycles, antique cars, horseback riders from the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Posse, and plenty of red, white, and blue spirit lining the streets. Having participated in previous parades myself, one thing is certain—the crowds continue to grow each year. We even ran out of candy before reaching the end of the route!

Grand Opening of Towne Center Park | 10 am

After the parade, continue the celebration at the grand opening of Towne Center Park. Families can enjoy live music, food trucks, complimentary popsicles, bottled water, prize drawings, and the first-ever Sandlot Home Run Derby benefiting Parks and Trails of Heath (PATH). The celebration will also include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where the City of Heath will officially receive its Music Friendly Texas Certification from the Texas Music Office.

Heath Parade Awards

Parade organizers will once again recognize participants with awards including Best Float Overall, Best Business Float, Mayor’s Choice, Most Patriotic Pet, and several additional categories celebrating community creativity.

Rockwall Festivities Begin At 5 pm

One of Rockwall’s favorite Independence Day traditions is gathering at Harry Myers Park for an evening of live music, food trucks, patriotic entertainment, and a spectacular fireworks display after sunset. To make getting to the celebration easier, the City is offering complimentary shuttle service from several nearby locations. Be sure to bring lawn chairs or blankets so you can relax and enjoy the evening entertainment before the fireworks begin.

Shuttle Parking

Free Shuttle Locations:
• The Center (108 E. Washington Street)
• Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium (1215 North T L Townsend Drive)
• Rockwall High School (901 W Yellow Jacket Lane)

Tip: Leave barbecue grills at home—they are not permitted on the shuttle buses.

Rowlett Festivities Begin At 5 pm

Just minutes from Rockwall, Rowlett is hosting one of the region’s largest America 250 celebrations at Pecan Grove Park. Visitors can enjoy carnival rides, food vendors, live music, and what organizers say will be the city’s largest fireworks show yet, making it another great option for families looking to celebrate Independence Day.
