Excellent experience to get a first time haircut for both my twin daughters at Rockwall Yellow Jacket Barbershop. I walked-in to see what the wait was like and there was an available barber open who took us immediately without an appointment.
Is the barbershop kid-friendly?
Many of the barbers looked happy and welcomed us. I noticed there were already a variety of children in chairs being attended to and a couple of kids awaiting on the long wooden guest bench. It had an old southern charm atmosphere that would fit right in next to an old malt shop or a classic mechanic garage. Of course this location is right next door to a local donut shop and Hobby Lobby is within walking distance.
Layla was super gentle, placed a kid seat in the barber chair and draped a cape over Nic Nic. She was thoughtful by asking if I was saving any of their hair since this is their first official hair cut. Side note, both of my girls periodically have chopped off chunks of their hair in the past. It was way past time to tame their bangs, which were getting too long and trim off any split ends. Family picture day was happening this weekend so I wanted to try to get their hair cleaned up a bit too.
What services does the barber offer?
Barbershops are mostly known for providing extraordinary haircut services and a relaxing shave. Most offer straight razor shave to clients for an affordable price. Keep in mind what you’re paying for is your chin’s safety and the experience barbers learned over the years. Beard trimming isn’t anything new, but a trip to the barbershop may be exactly what your man needs to get it groomed.
Thankfully this barbershop in Rockwall offers simple kid haircuts to their regular top notch services.
Before Layla got started cutting, she did spray down their hair with water. She was very professional in trimming off split ends, getting their ends even and blending their bangs so that it is not covering their eyes. She used a hair dryer and gave them a candy for their visit. Nic Nic was patient and sat on the guest bench for her sister Vivi to have her turn with Ms. Layla.
How affordable is a kid’s haircut?
For our quick haircut it cost $15 per child, which is a very reasonable price. If you plan to make a visit be sure to bring cash because they do not provide credit card machines or apps. This is a common practice with most barbers. If you find yourself short and embarrassed for not reading the sign at the desk like I did; just know that you can buy an item over at the QuickTrip to get some cash in return or use their ATM to pay for your service.
