Under The Cherry Tree By Adrienne Balkum
It is a 9×12 watercolor where I used Master’s Touch watercolor paint on acid free paper. The pad that I purchased only has 12 sheets for $6.99 that I picked up from Hobby Lobby.
It started as a sketch of a shady garden patio area in pencil. Using light colors and gradually mixing colors then incorporating darker colors. Lastly, I just added strokes to add depth or texture or a darker shade for some shadows. There is only one chair that I intentionally drew in. The space between the chair and table was to give a hint that a person who was sitting there left. Possibly to retrieve their latte or maybe another chair to join a friend that is coming to visit. One of my favorite parts of this piece is I really love how the tree turned out from blending of colors to the texture. Reminds me of a tree I used to climb in my early childhood.
