Twin Girl Shared Bedroom Progress

We have updated from the wooden 3-in-1 crib convertible beds to a stylish upholstered twin corner bed from Rooms To Go. Years ago, when we converted the crib to day beds I was not able to find a bedding for that size toddler mattress. I went to Target and purchased a standard twin bedding thinking it would fit. One of the perks of shopping at Baby R Us there was an entire wall of bedding in a bag. Unfortunately, they closed their stores not long after my twin births in 2016. Now, the time has come to utilize the flowery standard twin bedding which turned out great! Let me tell you about our purchases and highlight some things we did to their Paris themed room.

Target and Walmart Bedding Collections

Prices are approximately $30 to $40 per bedding collection. We have a mix bedding combination with a two sided comforter. Our favorite sheets are from Pillowfort because of the softness. The watercolor and artsy floral patterns on the comforter is nice to go with our theme. Genevieve and Nicolette favor to wear a these colors regularly so it makes sense to have it for their bedding.

We love the pattern! Between the bedding sets we do swap the bed sheets/pillow cases out with the pink solid just to mix things up.

Kids Furry Body Pillow

Prices are approximately $15 to $20. Our kids have been making themselves at home with my body pillows and we decided to get each of them their own. As seen on the left twin bed we have a Pillowfort Body Pillow that is furry. It’s pretty easy to clean in the washer machine if you can unzip it. Otherwise, I would not invest in a furry body pillow again for a young kids room.

Rooms To Go

After visiting several furniture showrooms in Rockwall we fell in love with something unique that our girls will be able to grow into with the Kids Lucie Silver 3 Pc Twin Corner Bed. We bought the showroom Belchester Twin Mattresses for $125 each which was probably the most affordable price for a twin mattress offered. Ms. Sheeba our sales associate was so patient with us since we were that family where the kids were loud and curiously inspecting all the bunk beds. The bedroom items were to be delivered two weeks later and customer service kept me informed to the minutes before it arrived at our door. Customer service followed up after the delivery to confirm if there was any issues with the furniture and overall we had a very good experience from Rooms To Go in Rockwall. For an additional fee, the delivery service could also put the furniture together in the room. However, my husband decided to opt out so he could assemble it.

Did You Purchase A Mattress Protector?

Yes, ladies we bought the Mattress Protector this time. Will fluids keep off the mattress? We shall see. If not I will follow through how to keep those odor and pee stains out.

Dreaming of the City of Lights

The theme started with my baby shower invitation that I designed like a vintage plane ticket and incorporated an Eiffel Tower. Over the years I collected Parisian decorative items like that crown. The chest is something that Jason had in his family and we just keep comforters in it. Although, the girls like to put goldfish in there like it is hideaway. When I think of Paris, I imagine the fashion when it was good. Not the trash bag wearing ensembles on the runway that is happening these days. I imagined that my daughters were going to be into dressing up so I drew a model and let the brush strokes show a flowy posh dress.

Cute Signage

Pretty much this is my daughters motto. It is a good reminder when there are some days that frustrate us when all the toys are just dumped and scattered across the floor for the thousandth time.

Framed A 1,000 Piece Puzzle

I got this fun idea for a family project that we would put a puzzle together. It started with cupcake puzzles and it just did not keep their interest at all. Yes, I know they are five years old I decided to clearly create unrealistic expectations. Instead, I ended up spending three days putting the “Eiffel Magic” together. If anything it was a crafty therapy. Next, I layered poster paper behind it so that the glue that would seep through the cracks would land on the paper. I used Puzzle Glue from Hobby Lobby and glued just the front only and the poster paper helped to keep it sturdy. I purchased online with Michael’s a 24×30 black frame which turned out that it was just a wee bit bigger than expected. The puzzle box was off by 1/4 of an inch. I took the frame and the finished puzzle to Michael’s framing department to get it fitted into the frame for approximately $30. They did a fantastic job and it was hung on the wall with gallery wire!

Painted Wall Art

In 2018, I worked on this Paint-By-Number canvas as a birthday present for my daughters. I added some texture to jazz it up and it’s one of my favorite pieces in the room.

Table Watercolor Art

I love vintage styled frames and this seemed to be an art deco type frame that I felt would go perfect for my Magnolia Ann watercolor. It sits right on top of an antique wardrobe which is a precious family heirloom. For now it is between the girls beds snugly and is what we place the lamp on.

Architecture and Imaginary Play

The Barbie Townhouse practically has a zoned play area and it is certainly well played with. It’s been a good edition for our girls to play with a variety of dolls. It has encouraged them to create their own little imaginary worlds. Spiderman often has been welcomed at the townhouse where he is always in the refrigerator, washing dishes or at the grill for the latest party.

Art de Vivre

As I am putting this room together I did not want a traditional girly room of making everything pink and purple. Paris has a reputation of being a romantic and cultural city. By creating an ambiance that incorporates old furniture with a modern style bed it shows personality of an eclectic space. My goal for the interior design will be harmonious in curating art, architecture and textures to influence my daughters as they age to show more individual creativity. There is still more to do like painting the walls a happy calm color. Maybe adding some shelving, tiny photo frames with family adventures, greenery and more pillows to offer a pleasant relaxing place to read.

Let me know below in the comments if this helped you as you are creating your vintage Parisian themed roomed or laying out a shared bedroom.
