State Rep. Matt Schaefer Bring Order To Chaos

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held it’s annual event in Dallas, Texas between Friday, July 9 – July 11, 2021 at the Hilton Anatole. Many conservative activists and elected officials from across the United States attend to discuss current issues and to provide solutions.

Immigration Crisis

It’s important that we have compassion for people that are suffering while also explaining very clearly that our laws are laws that are going to be enforced. We are not going to be a lawless society or community. Every person is made in the image of God. Regardless of what country you may come from. Here we desire to treat people with respect, but God is a God of order–and not chaos. Many people who came here illegally saw the crime coming in. They saw the violence, the cartels, sex trafficking to human trafficking. There is a considerable amount of abuse seen from coyotes (a human smuggler). Once they have experienced it they know that these coyotes looked at these individuals not as human beings, but dollar signs. The ranchers, business owners and people along the Texas border have God-given rights too. There are some serious security concerns when many of them are committing crimes.

While many of them are coming to America to have a turning point to have opportunity that they would not have had. They would also would feel secure that our nation is not just going to facilitate lawlessness. Is there an administration problem for those that want to become American citizens? I certainly believe there can be improvements.

How To Bring Order

Radio Host Ben Ferguson asked State Rep. Matt Schaefer, “What can non Texans do?”

State Rep. Matt Schaefer answered,“A couple of things I think that our Republican Conservative Attorney Generals need to test the Constitutional boundaries on this immigration issue and turn these cases over to these Trump judges. Donald Trump left these great judges for us and we need to put this issue in front of them and say we can stand up where Washington has failed. The second is you’ve got to pass strong anti-sanctuary city laws.”

Texas Rep. Schaefer suggested to reach out to your state reps to do what Texas did in 2017 with SB 4. For example, if the sheriff has a person who committed a violent crime and is an alien then receives a detainer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to let that person loose. If they do the Sheriff will go to jail.

In 2017, Lubbock Senator Charles Perry authored a bill that seeks to punish local entities if their law enforcement agencies fail to honor requests, known as detainers, from federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to hand over immigrants in custody for possible deportation. It would also punish entities that enact policies preventing local law enforcement from asking about immigration status. Banning sanctuary cities is about stopping officials who have sworn to enforce the law from helping people who commit terrible crimes evade immigration detainers.
