🇨🇱 I’m a delegate for the Republican State Convention 2022! Delegates are grassroots Republicans who participate in the shaping of the Republican Party, its role, and direction regarding public policy. This will be my second time to participate in the state convention. It is such a joy to work with my Rockwall County Precinct 3D Chair Chasity Swehla!

Robert “Bunker Bob” Steinhagen was our vice chair of the County Convention Resolution Committee and working on the plethora of resolution contributions. Fellow delegate A.J. Wesseler did a great job in speaking at the podium for, against and sharing amendments on various resolutions. Many resolutions from our precinct were passed on the consent agenda.

147 Resolutions Going To State

Below are just a few of the new resolutions that I authored:

REGULATE CONSUMER FUEL PRICES by urging Texas Legislature to enact legislation to define the term “excessive fuel price.”

SCHOOL CHOICE by urging the Texas Legislature to require distribution of educational funds in a manner that they follow a registered student to any Texas school, whether public, private, charter, or home school through means of ISD property tax exemptions and/or credits. The Texas owners of a registered private elementary, middle school, high school, academy or university model in Texas shall solely be responsible for all aspects of their educational programs, including student assessment. All monies following the Texas student must stay in our great state and not go outside of the state borders or to foreign entities.

SREC COMMITTEE MEETING RULE by urging the Republican Part of Texas to:

1) enact rules requiring that county GOPs must clearly state that their County Executive Committee’s (CEC) are public meetings;
2) to list an agenda with supporting exhibits, if applicable of the location, date, time on their website, social media page, or notice in the local newspaper;
3) post minutes and maintain a minimum of three years of published documents on their website; and
4) be available for an open records request;

All meetings of the CEC shall be open to credentialed media representatives, elected officials, Texas GOP, and to interested Party members, except when the CEC goes in executive session. All meetings may be in person, conducted via telecommunications, or conducted in a digital conference platform. Meetings held by telephone conference or digital conference platform, must allow for simultaneous communication, the ability to share documents among all participating members, and must provide a method for non-committee members who have a right to appear before the committee or testify to seek recognition from the chairperson or provide a scheduled opportunity for such a testimony prior to the vote being taken on the relevant issue. The results of any record vote in a digital conference meeting shall be displayed on the shared screen space for all members and the public streaming feeds to see the results immediately as the result of the vote is announced.

Our precinct submitted 48 resolutions with a majority written by Robert Steinhagen and most of them passed in the county convention with a total of 147 resolutions to head to state.

Looking forward to going to the Republican State Convention along with fellow delegates Chasity Swehla, Robert Steinhagen, Val Bodart, Mark Russo, Jerri Howell, Dennis and Shari London, Deanna Heath Tucker and Daniel Tucker. Bunker Bob also recorded the convention. Several local candidates, Senator Bob Hall and Congressman Pat Fallon spoke too.

Judge David Sweet sponsored our breakfast. Senator Bob Hall sponsored our lunch and to Frank New sponsored our afternoon snacks.
