Opa! Brunch at a little modern Greek kitchen in Rockwall

My lady friends the Scrunchy Conservative Mamas of North TX and I had brunch at Onasis Greek Taphouse + Kitchen in Rockwall, Texas. Rowlett Chef Kostas Lazanas opened this location in May 2021 and has added their own branded finesse throughout the space.

Are Reservations Needed?

I am finding more and more restaurants are not doing reservations these days. We had two gals call to reserve tables and there seemed to be a misunderstanding. We had a large party of 18, but 8 gals decided not to show. For whatever reason, it was the head staff who sat us outside under the covered patio. The outdoor seating was okay and we appreciated the efforts it took, but most of our party were quite sweaty. There are fans, but it really did not do much. So next time, we may arrive early to get a table inside since there was plenty of room. My suggestion who have large brunch parties is to call an hour ahead to let them know confirmed seats and that you are on the way. Depending on your preference of outdoor or indoor make it clear of your seating specifications.

The Greek Menu

After reviewing the handmade wooden menus I went with an orange mimosa to start. Unfortunately, I had an accident with my first mimosa which left me all drenched. The waitress was kind to bring a new mimosa. The menu included some images of the entrees which I thought was a great idea!

Greek Taste

The Big Lambowski. The gyro grilled lamb had a tender texture which added to all of the flavorful tatziki seasonings, feta and Greek country potatoes.

Below in the photo slideshow it shows what entrées we ordered. We were all pleased about being able to choose healthy choices. The presentation on the dishes was received well. I am interested in exploring more of the dinner entrées. I’m curious to try the seafood elements in other dishes. For cocktails, I would recommend sticking with the can and bottles. The staff was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is much cleaner and modern than the Greek restaurants that I have been to. This location has great potential to be a staple in the Rockwall community.
