Life has been anything but slow since my time as Mayor Pro Tem ended. While I still keep a close eye on local politics, my focus has shifted toward family, health, creativity, and business growth. It’s been a season of rebuilding, reflecting, and embracing new opportunities—and I’m excited to share a little bit of what’s been happening lately.

Prioritizing Health & Wellness

My husband and I recently started working out together at 24-Hour Fitness, and I have to say—it’s been a rewarding shift!! Not only do we feel stronger physically, but it’s also brought us closer as a couple. I’ll be sharing more about the benefits of working out as a couple and how it’s helped us stay accountable and motivated.

On the health front, I’ve been navigating the early stages of perimenopause, which has been its own journey. Despite searching, I have yet to find a doctor who truly understands how to help women through this transition. In the meantime, small adjustments—like prioritizing Vitamin D—have made a big difference. I’ve also discovered that drinking my daily mocha has reduced my migraines to just one or two a month instead of daily attacks. (Yes, you read that right. Chocolate and caffeine might just be my secret weapon!) It’s funny how small daily habits can have such a big impact on our well-being.

Family Moments That Matter

We recently celebrated my son’s 10th birthday with a Minecraft experience, and seeing the joy on his face reminded me just how special these milestone moments are. We’ve also been making an effort to spend one-on-one time with each of our kids, taking them out individually to create meaningful memories. Playing board games like Clue, Monopoly Junior and Hedbanz has been something that they like doing with us.

At home, we’ve been tackling some much-needed house projects, like cleaning out the dishwasher filter, removing stubborn stickers from the fridge (why do kids love stickers so much?), and replacing the garbage disposal. I know, household maintenance isn’t the most glamorous topic, but these small fixes make daily life so much smoother! New artwork is going up on the shelves and on the walls. I’m on a mission to find some stuffed animals a good home—if you have creative ideas, send them my way! It’s amazing how little fixes can make a big difference in how a space feels!

Creative Energy & Business Growth

After taking a break, I’ve finally picked up my watercolors again and started working on a new series. There’s something incredibly calming about putting paint to paper, and I’m excited to share more about my creative journey soon. Reconnecting with my creativity has been fulfilling, but I’ve also been channeling that energy into my business.

On the business side, I’ve been diving deeper into content marketing consulting, helping businesses improve their online presence and refine their messaging. I’ve also been making minor website updates for clients—something I’d love to do more of! If your business needs a refresh, let’s talk.

I also launched a Monthly Business Roundup on my website, spotlighting local businesses, industry trends, and community happenings. If you missed last month’s edition, stay tuned for the next one!

Politics, Friendships & Lessons Learned

I recently attended two significant swearing-in ceremonies—one for our County Commissioner, Lorne Liechty, and another for Katrina Pierson, Texas State Representative for House District 33, at the Texas Capitol. These moments reminded me of the importance of staying engaged in our community and supporting leaders who genuinely work for the people.

This season has been revealing, and while it’s never easy to see people’s true colors, I’m grateful for the real friendships that have stood the test of time.

Budget-Friendly Living & Helpful Resources

Lately, I’ve been focused on cooking budget-friendly meals, and I’ve been sharing some recipes on my blog. If you’re looking for delicious and affordable meal ideas, you can find some of my latest posts here—I’d love to know which ones you try!

I also had my first mammogram—something I know many women put off—but I’m relieved to say everything is clear. If you’ve been hesitant to schedule yours, I shared my experience to encourage other women to prioritize their health.

As I step into this next chapter, I’m embracing new opportunities, refining my focus, and continuing to share what I learn along the way. Whether it’s through political observations, creative projects, family life, or business insights, I hope my journey inspires and encourages you.

I’d love to hear from you! What’s something new you’ve been focusing on? And is there a topic you’d love for me to cover next?
