Meeting Kelly
Recently, Kelly Archibald and I met up for coffee in downtown Rockwall, but ended up dining at Zanata. It was just so nice to zip on in for an appetizer before dinner. And yes, I did order the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake with pecan crumble. It was delish! I can see why so many of her guests are sharing a bit of what they lived through on her podcast. She is very easy going and a natural conversationalist.
Kelly shared with me that her family moved to Rockwall when she was in the 4th grade. Both Kelly and her husband Richard went to Rockwall High School. “We moved to Philadelphia for him to go to University of Pennsylvania Law School and moved back in 1998.” Kelly has over a decade of experience helping people meet their speech goals. She received a vocal performance scholarship from East Texas State University. She earned a degree in speech-language pathology and audiology from the University of Texas at Dallas. Kelly has sung professionally and continues to keep her own voice “tuned” through various types of media and performances.
Throughout her career she has been involved in PR such as music publicity, film and various venues. We were able to talk shop about what we have learned over the years from technology and utilizing various platforms to market b2b. What I found very unique about Kelly is she fully grasps story telling. She spoke very highly of her crew that works with her and their many talents to produce each podcast episode.
Before our meeting I happen to read a gob of her podcast reviews. One Qavah podcast reviewer that stuck out to me stated, “…she shares difficult stories to provide hope and inspiration in a world that desperately needs this message.”
I could not agree more. We certainly need more inspiration these days instead of tying anchors on people to not live in freedom. I believe that God has numbered our days and will fulfill every purpose He has for each of us. And I don’t believe that He intended any of us to be slaves or to live in fear. Sometimes it takes a spark to rival our worst thoughts to persevere through those tough storms in life.
The podcast was sparked of all places at a funeral. Kelly attended a funeral for Rockwall’s longtime congressman Ralph Hall. It was there that she felt the importance of sharing one’s story and felt compelled to find people who would be willing to share theirs. As each guest shared that their lives weren’t always good, but they learned to wait until good would come along again. This concept is where Qavah comes from. Qavah is found in a familiar scripture Isaiah 40:31. The New King James Version says, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
The word wait in Isaiah is the Hebrew word Qavah, which means: to wait, to bind together, to be joined, to meet, to expect, to be confident, to trust, to endure. Qavah guests have done just that.
