January is not exactly the best month to throw a kid party in North Texas. One minute it is raining the next it could be snowing. The weather can be temperamental. So this year to celebrate my son’s 5th birthday we hosted it at Urban Air. It’s a trampoline park that has probably the best giant tube obstacle course that I have seen, plus a ball pit where you can swing and land in a pool of balls. There are some other obstacle courses also available for larger age groups.
We chose a Deluxe package with a table for 10 participants for 2 hour party time, a shared party host with set-up and cleanup. Bottled water, tablecloth, table runner, balloons, plates, napkins and forks are included. Party favors, socks and an Urban Air shirt for the birthday boy. We had access to most of the attractions like the trampolines, The Tubes, Warrior Attractions, ProZone, Wipeout and Climbing Hill.
Our table was set up near the The Tubes. It was a perfect spot to be able to view the kids entering and exiting. However, there is a second exit on another balcony that leads to the other attractions.
Upon our arrival, stray dogs were jumping around near the entrance. One of them was a three legged puppy trying to get my attention as I tried to enter with two dozen cupcakes. My husband held hands with our children keeping them from not messing with them. It was just a mess of people trying to leave out of the entrance, but also understood that those dogs either wandered off from their home or they were dumped.
I spoke with one of the attendees at the front desk to let her know that the RCSO should be contacted to have the dogs picked up. We do have a city ordinance. She quickly acted and the general manager handled it from there.
After filling in the digital waiver forms we were informed where to locate our decorated table. Anyone who attends a party or visit must sign a waiver. We each got a pair of sticky socks, placed our shoes in the shoe bucket and my kids ran into the The Tubes. Our guests came and joined in. It was really nice to be able to meet Corban’s new friends moms from school while we watched or went through the attractions with them. Urban Air’s attendees did their best to keep the older children from going inside The Tubes.
The kids ended up wanting to go to the giant white ball pit so they dived right in. Nic Nic, Vivi, Corban and his friends had a great time in the ball pit. Just diving and jumping in was magical to them. They were able to climb over this rope bridge, hang tight on dangling boxing bags and act like an American Ninja.
The changing table is presently located in the handicap stall. Which is fine, if it isn’t occupied. Personally it would be best to have a separate room for a family to be able to have room to change soiled diapers or have a changing table outside of the restrooms. There is more handicap spots than toilets. And this place sees quite a number of kids of all ages.
Pizza Delivered
The birthday party continued we enjoyed a hot pizza topped with cheese and another with pepperoni. We thought the pizza was pretty good. We actually ordered way more than we needed. For a party of 10 we should have stuck with just 2 Large. Food and other treats were additional fees. They did not allow outside food or drinks other than cake or cupcakes. We sang Corban the Happy Birthday song. Lit his candle on top of an edible chocolate 5 figurine that we adorned on his chocolate cupcake. We split the chocolate 5 among his friends and sisters. Which they thought was really cool. Then they wanted to go back out to the attractions to play more. All the kids had a great time.
Closing Time
As the time approached for us to pack up I was able to pay the remaining charges at the front desk with ease. Your bands that you are given are also associated with a time slot so when your party time was up, it was announced over the intercom to exit the park. While my husband and kids said their good-byes, I utilized the mobile cart to transport our remaining pizza, cupcakes and gifts to our car.
I am glad we didn’t have to worry about the clean up that was a nice perk. It was a wonderful family-friendly experience. As a family with young multiples, I highly recommend to have one guardian and/or parent per child supervising them throughout the attractions.
