Did your Sony digital point and shoot camera stop pairing with your remote tripod selfie stick?

You can still take photos or video with your digital camera, but the remote control just stopped working? In my case, it turned out that the muRata CR2032 3V Lithium Battery from Indonesia no longer has a charge. I remember inserting this nickel size battery on the lower back side of the tripod from when I opened the remote control selfie stick GP-VPT2BT package. I have not found a solid answer how long this lithium battery is supposed to last from blogger reviews. Other than the statement on the package. Some boast it lasts for 10 years. Which is not remotely close to how long I have had this vlogging camera.

What If Your Selfie Stick Is Not Responding To The Sony ZV-1?

If your remote stick is not connected through the wireless bluetooth connection you will need to replace it with another lithium battery. I recommend to get the Energizer 2032 from Amazon. You may get a better deal on quantity and price.

1. Lift the tripod legs up so that you can see behind the wireless GP-VPT2BT shooting grip. Next slide the left notch and push the lever down to open the battery compartment door.

2. Replace the lithium battery with a new Energizer CR2032 Lithium 3 Volts battery.

3. Close the battery compartment door.

4. Turn ON the Sony ZV-1 Camera.

5. Press the MENU button.

6. Scroll through the top tabs and select the NETWORK tab. It’s the one that looks like the “world icon”. Then go to the second page of the Network2 tab (See FIGURE 1).

7. Scroll down on Network2 to Bluetooth Settings. Turn the Bluetooth Function ON.

8. Then go to Pairing. A popup window message will appear, “Perform pairing from the device to be connected. Perform pairing from a supported application if connecting a smartphone. Device Name ZV-1”

9. Next go to your GP-VPT2BT wireless shooting grip or selfie stick. Hold down the PHOTO button and the “T” button for seven (7) seconds.

10. The Sony ZV-1 Camera should begin pairing the GP-VPT2BT selfie stick (See FIGURE 2). Press “OK” and the next message, “Paired.”, confirming that your device has been paired. Again, press “OK”.

11. Then Go back to the MENU to select Bluetooth Rmt Ctrl. Turn that to “On”. (Above the zoom in [T] and zoom out [W] button a red light will flicker.)

Now you should be able to zoom in and out, take photos, record from the selfie stick.

IMPORTANT NOTE: IF you are still not paired even though you put in a new battery in the remote GP-VPT2BT selfie stick. Then I would recommend going back to the Menu and scroll down to Reset Network Set. The Sony ZV-1 camera will restart and turn back on. Now go back to Step 5 to repeat the steps. I had to do this TWICE before the GP-VPT2BT and the Sony ZV-1 camera paired.

Sony Zeiss Camera (Sony ZV-1) and GP-VPT2BT Remote Control

The Sony ZV-1 camera and GP-VPT2BT Remote Control is what I use to take selfies to shooting interviews. I like the touch screen options to focus on a filming area. The side-flipping LCD screen is ideal for video and well to help with selfies. You just have to remember to look at the lens and not the side screen. It can shoot high-quality vlogs with pleasing background blur and consistent focus. The images can be saved to HD quality or lower resolution. The audio is very good for interviews. Has a very good grip and it is a quick grab to travel with.

Please comment below to let me know if the battery solved your mystery of why your Sony stick stopped working with your camera. If I missed something please let me know.
