It was a rainy day in McLendon-Chisholm and I’m so glad that I was able to be part of the chapter in starting a city owned fire department. Thank you McLendon-Chisholm Fire Chief Simmons for saying yes years ago to the journey of building upon a legacy, working with the city councils and providing excellent service to our fire district.

I do thank Mayor Keith Short, Mayor Pro Tem Lorna Morgan-Kipphut, Council Member Trudy Woessner for finishing the important work of approving the best engineer/architect for the public safety building, as well as, working with the remaining FEMA grant, staffing and budgets. I don’t believe it was easy and I commend you for all of your efforts. I am happy to see the building finally here!!! It’s fully-equipped and I’m grateful that we all looked at the bigger picture to do what’s best for our community.

My Prayer

I pray that this building which our McLendon-Chisholm Fire respond to the calls for help, a place where they can hone on their skills and train to do better the job they are called upon to save lives, to protect and preserve property, bind up the broken, to comfort those who mourn, and provide for those who grieve. Father I pray for You to walk with them through the fire, protect every man and woman of this department as they give their whole-hearted devotion to the job to which they have been called.

In Jesus Name. Amen.
