If you are in a situation where you are completely locked out of your Facebook account consider calling and/or texting a friend that you know who is friends with you on Facebook. Your friend can view their list of friends to search for your profile. When your friend can not find your profile in their list then here are some steps to try:
Visit the HELP CENTER.
2. Scroll down to: “I think my friend’s Facebook account was hacked.”
3. Click on “Visit this page” and follow the prompts by selecting, “Someone else got into my account without my permission.” [See Figure 1]
4. Click on “Visit this page” and follow the prompts by selecting, “I don’t see the right option on this list”.
Full disclosure 24 hours later none of these prompts worked to help restore my friend’s account. However, I did follow the steps to show an opportunity for Tech Support or Account Management that this process was not helpful.
Trouble Shooting the Problem
1. Go back to the HELP CENTER.
2. Scroll down to “I think my friend’s Facebook account was hacked.”
3. Select 😞 No button on Was this helpful? box [See Figure 2].
4. Select in the What went wrong? box, The solution doesn’t work [Figure 3].
5. Fill in the Can you say more? form [See Figure 4]:
“Hello, my friend [enter your friend’s Facebook Profile name], has filled out the form and has not received a code to their mobile number linked to their account and he/she followed through in the Help Center to help restore their account. I am a friend trying to help my friend restore their account what else can I do to further assist the situation?”
Timeframe
In my friend’s case, the first steps started 24 hours before. Then I followed through the Trouble Shooting and approximately 12 hours later my friend’s account was restored. I can’t guarantee that this will happen for you. However, as frustrating as it can be this may be worth trying. It may be a way to improve Facebook’s Tech Support that may not be aware that the process was not helpful.
