My kids play rough with their toys. Sometimes a toy that is meant for imaginative play such as a blow dryer would be used as a hammer. I’m sure most parents will get a gist of where I am going with this story.
Never Underestimate A Child’s Imagination
After breakfast, my children came running to me to say that they found their friend hurt. It was such a dramatic story! It kept building about Chloe returning from some wild party limping with a dangling arm. A party that my kids didn’t get to go. BUT if they were there they would have protected her from the clutches of the One Green Eyed Man (Dr. Calico) and Stinky Pete.
I guess the bad guy from Bolt and Toy Story 2 partnered to crash this party and had intentions to kidnap Chloe. Except they didn’t and she escaped.
So what does a parent do to help their imagination?
I suggested that she needed to be transported to the nearest hospital. And that I would assist Dr. Corban Balkum do some minor surgery. So I converted our dining area to be an operating room. Handed my son his stethoscope and my daughters had their anesthesia equipment to sedate the newly admitted patient.
After Dr. Corban had her stabilized I came in with my needle and thread to stitch her arm back into place. My kids were amazed and they quickly expressed that they were happy to see her feeling better.
Chloe is a fictional character from The Secret Life of Pets and this entire operation was something that I did with my children. I’m glad I still have a little knowledge on how to use a needle and thread. It came in handy and it definitely was a cool experience to enjoy with my children. This is just one of the fun times of being a mom.
