“Our trip to Maui in 2017 with my husband Chad and our son Christian was nothing short of amazing. From start to finish, every moment was filled with joy and adventure.”

Where We Stayed: The Kapalua Villas

We chose to stay at the Kapalua Villas, which we believe are Maui’s best vacation condos. These spacious units offer one to three bedrooms, full kitchens, washers/dryers, A/C, and breathtaking views. The resort itself is a haven, boasting three pristine beaches, eleven diverse restaurants, golf courses, a golf academy, tennis courts, and scenic hiking trails. Nestled within one of Hawaii’s largest nature preserves, the resort is surrounded by a necklace of stunning white sand beaches, two marine sanctuaries, and two world-renowned golf courses.

One of the highlights of our trip was a guided snorkeling tour at Molokini Bay. Whether you’re with family or as a couple, this experience is a must-do. The crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life make it an unforgettable adventure.

Honolua Bay is steeped in history, originally used for fishing, cattle raising, and farming crops like coffee beans, aloe, mango, and taro. Under the management of horticulturist David T. Fleming, the area was transformed from Honolua Ranch to Honolua Plantation, eventually becoming one of the largest private label producers of pineapples and pineapple juice in the country. Today, it’s a popular spot for snorkeling, offering a glimpse into Maui’s rich agricultural past.

A Drive on the Road to Hana

We embarked on the famous Road to Hana, a journey that took up eight hours of our trip. While the drive is scenic, the highlight for me was our stop at Aunt Sandy’s, where we picked up a Dr. Pepper and her famous banana nut bread—a sweet nod to my aunt, who shares the same name.
